Close to Heaven

On entering the former abbey church in Amorbach, visitors are first of all overwhelmed by the Baroque beauty of the space and the wealth of paintings on ceilings and altars. The book helps the visitor to feel closer to that era and to explain the deep veneration of the depicted saints, that is part of the Benedictine tradition.
Heaven is close to us there, as the monks of former times saw it – and it can be a vivid hope and expectation even for us today.
